The Kendall’s welcomed my boys and I into their home for a 2 day stay in their charming 1930’s bungalow nestled in the historic district of Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this year. We had such a lovely visit and I was able to photograph my very first “A Day in the Life” session during our trip. As many of you may know, Jessica and I have been friends since 1st grade. Yep, I’ve been loving this lady f0r 23 years!! Now the owner of one of the largest mobile hair and make-up businesses in the southeast, Beauty Asylum, Jessica and I are able to work together and collaborate quite often. Who would have known all these years later we would be in the same industry?! Super cool! So, who better to ask if I can invade their home and photograph their family (in their pajamas!!) than one of my closest and dearest friends. I am so thankful she said YES!:)
[A funny side story I can’t help but share : when we were in middle school we would do each other’s hair and make-up and have fashion shows, of course, documenting it all with my Kodak dispoposable camera. If only I could find those pictures!! Fast-forward 15 years and what do you know… Jess is a hair + make-up artist and I’m a photographer. It’s fun to think that our passion for our careers could have been sparked way back then.]
So… why “A Day in the Life” session instead of the usual? For many reasons, really… but I feel like life’s most precious memories are made at home with our loved ones. In my personal experience with my own family I feel that some of our most memorable moments at home can be so easily forgotten. The hustle and bustle can occasionally get the best of us and before we know it those tiny handprints on the window and unexpected eskimo kisses are purely a memory. It’s the smallest details we long to remember. I have become so passionate about capturing families living their day-to-day lives in the comfort of their home. Being able to provide my clients with tangible memories in the form of photographs that they will be able to cherish forever is such a blessing. Offering this type of session is a gift I’m excited to share and something I am really looking forward to.
I absolutely adored the time I got to spend at the Kendall house. Brantley, Jessica, JaLynn and Baby Brantley are such a fun loving family of 4 with so much personality!! From the decor on the walls to the way they embrace, every ounce is filled with love. Here is a glimpse into my very first “A Day in the Life” session with such a beautiful family…
