Wedding

After a year of keeping this wedding on lock, we are finally able to share it! This past July Katie + Tanner’s colorful “Bohemian Barn Wedding” was published in The Knot Magazine. A dream come true for Katie’s team of vendors and certainly an honor for everyone that made this wedding so amazing.

A college graduation party in Dahlonega, Georgia, brought Katie Barker (an elementary school teacher) and Tanner Edmonds (an Army infantry officer) together for the first time. After dating long-distance for many years, the couple tied the knot under a “wedding tree” on a rural Georgia plantation decorated with fabrics and flowers. A pianist played in the background as the bride walked down the aisle. The bride’s ring was designed by the groom at Kay and featured morganite, her favorite gemstone. The groom’s was made of a Jack Daniel’s whiskey barrel with carbon fiber and found on Etsy. Katie paired her off-white horsehair Judd Waddell gown with crushed velvet burgundy Keds sneakers for comfort and style. She chose the gown for its = texture and added a hand-sewn Swarovski crystal sash. She wore a veil during the ceremony but for the reception changed into a more casual, backless dress from Lulus and a custom flower crown. The reception dress showed off her tattoo on her back, which was designed to honor her grandmothers. Seven bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns in different colors featured in the wedding, chosen by each one. They wore flower crowns that coordinated with the bride’s and had similar bouquets, including golden and pink ranunculus, deep red and coral peonies, light pink garden roses and eucalyptus. Tanner wore a charcoal suit with a black skinny tie with a gold tie clip and pocket square. Seven groomsmen wore light gray or summer tan suits with mismatched skinny ties and boutonnieres unique to each individual. The outdoor festivities moved inside the barn for the reception.

The venue, Vinewood Plantation, inspired much of the wedding’s decor, bringing together neutral tones with bursts of burgundy and gold glitter details. “A joke throughout the planning process between the planners and myself was that we needed ‘gold glitter everything,’ ” Katie says. Other colors included were pink, deep purple, Marsala and gray. The furnishings carried over the accent colors and tablescapes included gold goblets, crushed velvet tablecloths, and gold-dusted blackberries. Crystal chandeliers hung from the barn’s rafters for a glamorous touch to the otherwise rustic affair. Guests dined on comfort food like the barbecue bar with all the fixings and mashed potatoes in mason jars. There were two cakes for the reception. One was a fondant and naked cake covered in flowers and seasonal berries. Another was made to look like a chalkboard with the couple’s monogram and raspberry filling. Katie and Tanner danced their first song to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” a personal favorite, as performed by the A-Town Alist. The couple also saw their reception as an opportunity to bring together friends and family who had never met. After dancing the night away, the couple left to a sparkler exit and hopped in a classic car.
