There is something undeniably iconic about a wedding at The Dewberry in Charleston. With its mid-century elegance, tailored interiors, and sweeping city views, it sets the tone for a celebration that feels polished, intentional, and timeless.
Tori and Davis embraced that aesthetic fully, hosting a refined black tie wedding in the heart of downtown Charleston, followed by an elegant reception at The Cedar Room planned to perfection by Proper Planning Co.
The morning began inside The Dewberry, one of Charleston’s most sought-after wedding venues and boutique hotels. Its soft neutral interiors and classic architectural details provided a beautiful, understated backdrop for portraits.
Tori wore a textured floral gown by Galia Lahav that felt romantic yet modern — perfectly balanced against the structured black tuxedos worn by Davis and his groomsmen. The overall look of the day leaned timeless: black tie attire, white florals, and clean, sophisticated styling.
For couples planning a Charleston wedding, The Dewberry offers both convenience and aesthetic cohesion — allowing getting-ready moments, portraits, and guest accommodations all in one iconic location.
Their ceremony design was layered with abundant white florals arranged by Petaloso in structured yet organic compositions at The Cedar Room. The backdrop featured large-scale arrangements in soft ivory and greenery, creating depth without overwhelming the space.
The palette remained intentionally neutral — whites, creams, and soft greens — allowing texture and candlelight to take center stage.
The result was elegant and immersive, feeling both grand and intimate at the same time.
Following the ceremony, The Cedar Room was transformed to a stunning dinner celebration— one of Charleston’s most distinctive reception venues.
With its soaring ceilings, historic brick, and expansive layout, The Cedar Room provides a dramatic yet versatile canvas for wedding design. Tori and Davis leaned into its architectural presence while softening the space with layered candlelight and lush white florals.
Long wooden tables were styled with neutral linens, ivory menus, and abundant floral arrangements spilling naturally across the center. The candlelight reflected warmly off the wood tones, creating an inviting, romantic atmosphere.
It felt elevated but never overdone — classic Charleston with a modern edge.
The overall design direction was refined black tie with a focus on:
Nothing felt trendy. Everything felt considered.
Charleston weddings at The Dewberry and The Cedar Room naturally lend themselves to this kind of aesthetic — timeless, architectural, and deeply romantic.
For couples considering a wedding at The Dewberry in Charleston or a reception at The Cedar Room, the combination offers:
As a Charleston wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to celebrations that allow the setting to enhance the story of the day rather than compete with it.
